Kazuo Yamaji

Kasama ware 1949-

YAMAJI uses a process involving stencils cut from tanned paper. He uses these stencils to paste clay slurry onto his works, leaving behind a pattern of clay once dried and the stencil is removed. This technique creates a raised pattern of clay, and gives the pottery a tactile, cloth-like texture. New patterns and colors open the door to a world of creativity.
